Operations · Make to n8n migrationSaleUp
Every incident gone, and 15 hours a week back.
SaleUp runs lead routing at a volume that had outgrown the tool doing it. Their automation lived in Make.com, spread across scenarios that had been added one at a time, and it was failing often enough that somebody was always fixing something. We moved the whole thing onto n8n and rebuilt it as one system rather than a pile of scenarios.
In numbers
- 100,000+ automated messages a month
- 15+ hours a week no longer spent firefighting
- Every prior incident eliminated
What outgrowing the tool looks like
It rarely arrives as one big failure. Scenarios get added as needs come up, each sensible on its own, until nobody holds the whole picture. Then the volume climbs, per-task limits start to bite, a step fails quietly, and the first person to notice is a customer who never got a reply. The cost shows up as somebody's week rather than as a line on an invoice.
Why n8n, and what moving actually involved
n8n removed the per-task pricing that had been growing with their volume, and it self-hosts, so the routing runs in their own environment. The migration was not a copy: we mapped what each scenario was actually for, merged the overlaps, and rebuilt the routing as a set of workflows with shared sub-workflows underneath, so the same logic exists once instead of in five places.
The part that ended the incidents
A global error handler, retries with backoff where retrying helps, and alerts that reach a person rather than a log nobody reads. Every run is recorded and searchable, so "what happened to that lead on Tuesday" is a query instead of an investigation. Most of the old incidents were not exotic. They were ordinary failures with nothing built to catch them.
What changed
The system moves over 100,000 automated messages a month and the incidents stopped. Elad puts the recovered time at more than 15 hours a week, which was previously going on diagnosis and manual repair. Lead response time improved as a side effect, because a routing step that no longer fails is a routing step that no longer delays anyone.
The new system eliminated all incidents and saved us countless hours every week. Lead response time improved dramatically.
